In the first competition on Saturday, the US Olympic Judo team dominated Mexico, winning all twelve matches in men’s and women’s competition. Former college wrestler Jimmy Pedro – who won a bronze medal in judo for the US at the 2000 Olympics -- took the match at 3:39 in the 73 kg/161 lb competition.
On Sunday, the US team accumulated another 80 points to China’s 30. At the end of the competition, the US judo team had recorded 21 wins and only three losses, ensuring gold in the final team standings. China placed second, and Mexico third.
